My friend Dorothy came up the pattern for this cute fish. She asked me to make one to check her directions before she puts it for sale. Fitting the curved pieces together was a little challenging (I should really know better than to sew after 8pm), but I'm happy with the end result.
This little beauty is the trophy topper for an ugly Christmas sweater contest at the upcoming Jr. Women's Club holiday party. It was knit top-down with the tree added afterwards in duplicate stitch. I spent much more time on this than I probably should have, but it was fun to make and a nice departure from more serious projects. I hope whoever wins the trophy gets a kick out her.
I couldn't resist posting this bad photo because I think she looks a little bit like an actual person in one of those horrible too-much-flash-in-a-dark-room party pictures.
I've been admiring Fiona's soft toys on Hop Skip Jump for a while now, and decided to make one for myself. I used an old pair of my dad's wool pants for the body, some scraps from my quilting stash for the ears and necktie, and vintage buttons to hold it all together.
